While it is true that almost all human beings prefer material possessions, but the degree of preference and admiration of material possessions differs from one person to another. Materialism can have both positive and negative effects depending on the person/people under consideration. This study aimed to assess the level of materialism among university students at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro region of Tanzania and how it could affect their academic performance. Unfortunately, few studies have dared to consider this aspect with regards to students’ academic performance in Tanzania. The study was carried out at Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2016 at Mazimbu campus located in Morogoro urban area. Primary data were collected from students in 10 degrees programmes through structured questionnaire. Secondary data on university students’ performance were taken from Sokoine University of Agriculture examination records. Data analysis was done using Likert scale, chi-square test and multiple linear regression using STATA software. Findings indicate that the university students are generally materialists with female students and young students on the higher side of materialism than their counterparts. As regards the influence of materialism on performance, it was found that materialistic students perform poorer than students who are less materialistic, consistent with the available literature. The study recommends to the government through its universities to discourage the materialistic culture among students much as apart from being associated with poor performance, it may also lead to other bad behaviors such as prostitution. This can be done through widening a room for philosophical and religious studies among the university students.
2020-03-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2020 IJRDO - Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research (ISSN: 2456-2971) Seventh Addenda to Criticism of the Current Science in the World 2020-04-02T12:20:00+00:00 Pejman Malekinejad
In this article some scientific problems of Iran were reviewed. My own problems and honors were also mentioned. It was concluded that Iran and I will not become anything in the science, I have no intelligence and Iran and I will not become anything in general. Therefore, according to the principles of DEPRESSIVE REALISM, I must always be happy. Also it was deduced that the only way for the advancement and development of Iran is to make Iran as a state of USA.
2020-04-02T12:15:31+00:00 Copyright (c) 2020 IJRDO - Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research (ISSN: 2456-2971) Abstractionism 2020-04-02T12:20:03+00:00 RALF G WILL
In aid of my new THEORY OF ART, I painted two situations in more detailed colours.
